PRODUCED IN THE HOLY MONASTERY OF PANTOKRATOR ON MOUNT ATHOS.
The pharmacy of Mount Athos is unique for its combination of natural, eco-friendly production and centuries-old prayerful practices. The monks of Pantokrator create everything with care, attention, and prayer for the people who will use their products.
“The Lord has created medicines from the earth, and a wise man will not despise them.
He has given people knowledge, so that He may be glorified in His marvelous works:
with them He heals a man and removes his pain.”
(Wisdom of Jesus, Son of Sirach 38:4–7)
In the ointment workshop of Pantokrator Monastery, the monks prepare traditional, handmade beeswax balms whose healing properties have been known since the time of the ancient Greeks. Combining the beneficial qualities of plants with both ancient and modern Athonite pharmacopoeia, they offer moisturizing beeswax balm for the face, moisturizing beeswax balm for the hands, warming beeswax balm, regenerative beeswax balm, and soothing balm.
Natural and beneficial ingredients:
The cream is made of pure beeswax, pure olive oil, and selected aromatic essential oils that give it its unique character.
Hydration & Nourishment
Olive oil contains squalane and vitamin E. Squalane helps the skin retain moisture, while vitamin E increases the skin’s ability to absorb and preserve hydration. Olive oil also contains anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial components, as well as elements that stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin. All this supports active skin regeneration.
Skin Health
Olive oil is highly valued for its antioxidant properties, making it superior to many other oils. It helps slow the aging process while providing deep nourishment, hydration, softness, and skin restoration.
Antibacterial Activity
For both bees and humans, beeswax acts as a natural preservative, inhibiting bacterial growth.
Wound Healing
Beeswax acts as a natural adhesive and also possesses bactericidal properties and a rich composition that promotes tissue regeneration.
Breathability & Protection
Honey sealed in wax combs is protected from outside contaminants yet can still “breathe.” The same applies to the skin when using beeswax balms.
St. John’s Wort Oil
St. John’s Wort oil is produced by infusing the herb in olive oil and allowing it to ferment in the sun for 40 days. It has antimicrobial, antiviral, and astringent properties.
How to Use Beeswax Balms
Apply and gently massage a sufficient amount of the beeswax balm onto the affected area, chest, back, or neck 2–3 times a day for as long as the discomfort persists.
For dry skin, massage a little longer to help absorption.
For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes.
Side Effects
Natural beeswax balms have no side effects because they are made from pure, natural ingredients. The only possible adverse reactions concern individuals allergic to bee products or another ingredient. If you suspect an allergy, consult your doctor.
Shelf Life
The key feature of beeswax balms is that they contain no water and therefore require no chemical preservatives. They remain unchanged for 12 months after opening.
